Scalp Micro-Pigmentation

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is an innovative and very popular procedure for both sexes – women and men. It is designed to give the look of a full head of hair without having to go through hair implants surgery. It is safe and the results are natural-looking. Additionally, the procedure requires no maintenance or recovery time.
Men are not the only people who suffer from hair loss. While male pattern baldness is a more common and accepted condition, many practitioners perform SMP for women just as often as their male clients. There are several reasons why one could begin losing their hair. Alopecia is an autoimmune condition that can cause hair loss all over the body, and often presents with hair falling out in chunks, leaving the patient with large bald spots all over his or her head. There could be other reasons, such as stress, hormonal changes, recent covid illness, and many other possible causes.

SMP works for all hair and skin tones. Regardless of your individual situation, Erika is committed in assisting you to achieve your individual cosmetic goals with empathy and attention to detail.  Erika has been doing cosmetic tattooing for many years and she gained knowledge and experience in working with alopecia clients. Erika experienced temporary hair loss herself and this helps her to understand the sensitivity of this situation.

Benefits of SPM

How it's done?
During this procedure, we use a micro-fine needle to implant a (specifically designed pigment for the scalp) in a form of thousands of dots, which imitate hair follicles and create fullness.

How many sessions are needed?
SMP is completed in at least 2-4 sessions spaced 7-10 days apart. How many sessions will be needed and how long a session will last can depend on skin type, pigment retention, treated area, etc… Procedure is extremely detailed, and therefore it must be broken up in multiple sessions. There is no scabbing during healing process, but mild redness can last up to 24 hours.

How much does it cost?
The price depends on the size of the treated area; the price can start from £200- £1500. Erika offers 6 months guarantee to her clients, to ensure that client is satisfied and that if any corrections are needed, they can return within 6 months.

Any touch-up session after 6 months period is charged £150 per hour.

How long will the results last?
In between the sessions there might be a mild fading. This is a natural process of healing, and the slight fading is expected. At second session, we will need to assess the colour of pigment and implement adjustments where needed.
3-6 months fading is where the pigment is deposited completely to create a look that you will maintain for a long time. Over time, your dots will become smaller, lighter, and less sharp in your skin. The roots of your hair will be softer, and any blemishes created by different parts of your scalp tattoo will fade at different rates.
The degree of long-term fading depends on the technique of where the treatment is performed, the environment in which you live and work, the lifestyle and how you maintain the care after the treatment session. If the procedure and aftercare is done correctly, the long-term results could last anything between 3-6 years.

Am I the right candidate for SMP?
Just like any permanent makeup, most people qualify as good candidates for the procedure. However, there are certain things that the patients need to bear in mind before opting for this procedure. Even though the client will have all their questions answered on the first consultation with the Erika, there are certain pre-existing conditions that can affect the final outlook:

  • People with diabetes

  • People with serious diseases such as cancer, epilepsy, or autoimmune disorders

  • People with any bleeding disorders

  • People who take blood thinning medications

  • People who have recently had Botox injections or fillers.

Preparing for your first session:

  • Do not drink alcohol 24 – 48 hours before your tattoo

  • Do not consume coffee before your procedure

  • Do not take any aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)

  • Avoid oily fish, Garlic and herbal teas to avoid blood thinning

  • Please wash your hair on the day of your appointment, and don’t use any styling hair products. For men, please shave your head a day before where possible.

  • Don’t exercise on the day.

What Should You Do After Your Micropigmentation Session?

  • Don't Wash Your Head in the First 3 Days.

  • You Can Shave Your Head Starting With Day 4.

  • You Can Also Take a Light Shower but with a Mild Sulfate free Shampoo.

  • Resume Your Normal Routine Starting With Day 7.

In general, you'll want to treat your scalp like an open wound after SMP treatment. Meaning, avoid getting it wet and keep it clean. No chlorinated pools, saunas, steam rooms, or tanning beds for 28 days after your final treatment. This will ensure a good, long-lasting result.
